LOL, I'm with you on that one Marie! I think most of those 300 bed fires are due to people falling asleep with a lit cigarette in bed. Smoking in bed, how disgusting is that? I think quite a few house fires are also from faulty electrical wiring. So how about the government subsidizing low-income families to get their electrics checked and brought up to standard to keep them safe, instead of say, totally redecorating the White House with an unlimited budget every time a new President moves in? They could think of it as a rental property instead, after all they are only going to have to live there for 4 years in most cases, 8 at the most. But then if they really can't stand the decor they don't have to run for a 2nd term either.

But on a more serious note, and almost more disturbing is that I read they are putting toxic chemical fire retardants in children's pajamas.

We are putting 300,000,000 people at risk because of toxic chemical fire-retardants required by law for mattresses, in order to save 300 people from burning in their beds. I have a better idea. How about making a totally natural chemical-free mattress and then requiring that every bedroom has a water hose, in case of fire.
